The report titled: "Global and Regional Estimates of Violence Against Women", gauged the prevalence of violence against women, especially by their partners. Roughly, 30 percent of all women in the world are assaulted by their intimate partners.
The report found violence by intimate partners against women was particularly high in Africa, Eastern Mediterranean and Southeast Asia.
The report also found that women abused by their partners were twice as likely as non-abused women to have poor health, physical and mental problems.
