Through a Glass Darkly

PRISM is the name of a digital surveillance program run by the National Security Agency.

Thus far, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Apple, and Yahoo have all been implicated, though each has flatly denied that they provide the government with backdoor access to their services.

Various types of data that are collected through PRISM include: E-mails, instant messages, videos, photos, cloud stored data, voice chats, file transfers, video conferences, log-in times, and social network profile details. Through PRISM, NSA officials can even conduct live surveillance of someone doing a Google search.
