What is seldom acknowledged, yet surely true, is that wealthy individuals became so by taking whatever advantages and opportunities that were given them and multiplied them for the betterment of all. Otherwise, they would never have been rewarded so abundantly by the rest of us.
Of course, isn't it nice, even extraordinary, that so many of these fortunate souls also have the vision and inclination to fill some of the remaining holes in our society?
Thus far, the Giving Pledge has been taken up by 91 of the world's richest people, each of whom has pledged to donate at least half of his/her wealth to charity, in life or death.
